There were rail lines between the pens for collecting eggs andfeeding the birds. The birds were fed a wet mash each morning consisting of cooked meat from Carters own abatior, a mixiture of pollard and green cuttings specially grown for the purpose and added vitamins, the birds were fed wheat in the afternoon.
