A view of Carter Brothers layer pens this picture was taken in 1930 it was an all white leghorn farm specializing in the production of eggs for the table both in Australia and for export toEngland. All birds were housed on the floor, there was apporximantly 1200 birds in each pen. By the 1940s Carters had 250,000 birds at their Werribee farm. Werribee is now a suburb of Melbourne.
